Starting therapy over video can feel strange at first. But for many people, being in their own space makes it easier to open up — and the care you receive is just as thoughtful as it is in the room.
Before your session
Find a private spot where you won’t be overheard, test your camera and sound, and keep a glass of water nearby. Headphones can add an extra layer of privacy. It’s completely okay to have notes about what you’d like to talk about.
During and after
Your first session is mostly about getting to know you and agreeing on what you’d like from therapy. Afterwards, give yourself a few quiet minutes before jumping back into your day.
