Every couple argues. Conflict isn’t a sign that something is broken; it’s often a sign that two people care about something deeply. What shapes a relationship over time is less about avoiding fights and more about how you repair afterwards.

What repair actually looks like

Repair can be small: a softened tone, a hand on the shoulder, an “I got defensive there.” It means pausing when things escalate, returning when you’re both calmer, and trying to understand the feeling underneath your partner’s words rather than only the words themselves.

When patterns keep repeating

If the same argument keeps coming back, couples therapy can help you slow the cycle down, see it clearly and build new ways of reaching for each other.
